Applying for a Job or Internship?
Once you have logged into VMock and improved your resume as much as possible in general, you can turn your attention to optimizing or customizing your resume to match your target jobs. Optimized resumes are much more likely to make it through automatic tracking systems (ATS) and be moved on by HR professionals. We recommend you always customize your resume.
- Copy and paste in a job description on the right side of the dashboard.
- VMock will review and give you an Optimization Summary pop-up.
- Review the feedback here and then click the blue “Optimize with SMART Editor” button.
- Look at the keyword list to the right and find ways to add those words to your resume.
- The tense of the word matters to these tracking systems.
- Be sure to remain truthful about your experience. If you do not have the experience to back up the words, do not add them.
- Make as many changes as possible before clicking “Preview” to make sure you are still using the right number of pages.
- Click the “Re-evaluate” button and click it again in the pop-up window.

Through the Mock Interviews feature, you can practice based on your career preference.
- Click Update Preferences on the right side.
- In the pop-up window, first choose target functions from the list, then choose your Difficulty Level.
- Once you have mastered the Basic level, try Immediate, and then Advanced until you have upskilled for the most difficult interviews for your function.
- The next window shows you potential jobs for which you can practice interviewing.
- You can also click the Recommended tab and upload your resume. Based on your resume, the system will offer you roles that may be a good fit for you.
If you click Custom Interviews on the left side and then Create Interview on the right, you can choose from a variety of categories and sub-categories to find a role for which you can practice interviewing.
You can adjust the length of time you are given to answer the question. To get started, click Select All and then Create Interview. Name your interview and Calibrate. Then you can practice and receive AI feedback.

Please email careers@tulane.edu (Business Students) or csc@tulane.edu (NTC Students) to provide your feedback. It may be that the career centers have a specific reason for requiring your resume conform to those standards. If not, we may be able to work with the vendor to adjust the grading criteria.
You most likely signed up until VMock’s general page (vmock.com/login) and not under the Tulane-specific page (VMock.com/tulane). Please go to the Tulane VMock page and sign up with your SSO as a student. You should then be able to see all tabs.
