NTC Summer Internship Fund
Newcomb-Tulane College Career Services has established the NTC Career Services Internship Fund to fund full-time Newcomb-Tulane College undergraduate students for underpaid or unpaid internships that they would otherwise not be able to participate in due to financial limitations.
Applicants may request:
- Underpaid Internships: Up to 150 hours of compensation
- Unpaid Internships: Up to 400 hours of compensation
- Travel Expenses: Up to $1000
- Housing Costs: Up to $2000
- Other Incidentals: Up to $500
Our team is part of a more extensive event each February called Summer Funding Week. There is more information to come on this event. Additionally, here is a document that lists other funding opportunities at Tulane.
The fund supports students seeking to participate in internship experiences that provide experience related to their ultimate career goals as an undergraduate student at Tulane. This includes housing, travel, and living expenses. Additionally, the fund can be awarded in lieu of wages.
Self-guided research, such as independent study or independent research projects, is ineligible for funding. Research internships under a university, employer, or other organization are eligible.
NTC Career Services will deny funding requests for internships that require “program fees” to participate, or that promise employment in exchange for payment.
Before applying please read our Generative AI Policy.
All award recipients will be required to register for a 1-credit Grant-Funded Internship course during the summer term. This course is designed for students participating in a summer internship who have received a grant through NTC and other campus entities. The goal of this course is to offer students a structured opportunity to prepare to present the outcomes of their internship at the Tulane Idea and Research Symposium, another recipient requirement detailed below.
All award recipients are required to participate in the NTC Research & Idea Symposium poster session during the Fall semester following completion of their summer internship. Students studying abroad are required to submit the NTC Research & Idea Symposium components by their due date but may receive an event attendance waiver. Posters and Photos are due on a timeline beginning August 1, 2026, at 5 PM CST.

The Fund will cover expenses related to the stated internship experience, including housing, travel, professional materials (such as laptops, professional clothing, etc.), or living expenses. Students will be asked to elaborate on their reasons for requesting funding in the required cover letter and budget sections.
Unfortunately, international travel and housing will not be eligible for funding.
How do I apply?
You can click the “APPLY” button under “Application Criteria” above to navigate to the Mussafer Internship Initiative Student Resources Page. The application is embedded directly and will be available on February 15th.

Yes. Only students who have been accepted into their internship experiences at the time of application are eligible for funding this year.
What pieces does the application include?
- Application Form
- Resume

- Budget (template linked in application)

Applications must be submitted by March 15 or April 22 at 5 PM Central Standard Time. The committee will not review late applications.
Note: The Financial Aid release question will allow the Office of Financial Aid to share a limited summary of applicant’s financial need during the decision-making process to ensure that the NTC Career Services Internship Fund is as equitable a resource as possible.
How do I make a budget?
You can start making a budget using the official Career Internship Fund Budget Template linked in the application. Be as specific as possible when providing justifications for your expenses. For example, consider providing a hyperlink to the housing you are considering as proof you have a specific lodging situation in mind.
Thoughtful, thorough applications are more likely to receive funding.
Do I need to submit recommendations?
Recommendations are not required but are recommended. Recommenders can include Tulane faculty, staff, or non-Tulane professionals who can vouch for an applicant’s responsibility and professionalism.
Recommenders must submit recommendations using the NTC Recommendation Letter Submission form.
