Kind of Work
Serves as the assistant to the city’s Floodplain Program Manager and performs technical and administrative work as the liaison between the City of New Orleans and state and federal agencies regarding compliance with the National Flood Insurance program regulations. Work includes the daily implementation of flood loss reduction activities including enforcing flood damage prevention requirements, updating flood maps, plans and policies; and related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Four (4) years of professional work experience, at least two (2) years of this experience must have been in floodplain administration, coastal activity regulation or a closely related field.
- EITHER: A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in architecture, planning, engineering, environmental or coastal sciences, or a closely related field.*
OR: A Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university with at least 24 semester hours of coursework in Urban and Regional Planning, Urban Design, Urban Studies, Environmental Sciences, Coastal Resource Management, or related coursework.* Master’s Degree transcript must be submitted to the Civil Service Department within two (2) weeks of filing your application.
