Founded in 2018 and based in New York City, our team brings together over 50 years of combined software investing experience across 80+ software companies at firms like Insight Partners, Meritage Group/Renaissance Technologies, and The Blackstone Group. Our thoughtful approach and unique focus enable us to identify exceptional software companies, support their growth, and achieve outstanding returns.

With over $1 billion in assets under management, Vertica boasts a diverse portfolio ranging from innovative vertical applications like DSN, Rezdy, and Property Control to leading horizontal market companies such as Pathlock. We aim to build 2-3 new platforms each year and continuously seek additional acquisition opportunities for our portfolio companies.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you’ll gain valuable experience in business development and investment processes. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Engaging with Founders and CEOs: Proactively reach out to entrepreneurs to set up meetings for potential partnerships.
  • Researching Businesses: Develop a solid understanding of prospective companies to hold informed and meaningful conversations.
  • Creating Investment Opportunities: engage with entrepreneurs enough to be able to arrange calls and meetings between entrepreneurs and our senior investment team.
  • Collaborating with the Team: Work closely with colleagues to identify target companies and refine outreach strategies.
  • Contributing to Growth: Participate in recruiting, training, and enhancing Vertica’s culture and operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree completed by July 2026.
  • No prior experience in software or finance is required.
  • Strong communication skills and comfort with initiating contact via phone and email.
  • Ability to quickly learn about diverse businesses and industries.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
  • Enthusiasm for teamwork and collaboration.
