Editorial Internship, (Part-time)

Start Month: June 2026

End Month: July 2026

Phaidon is seeking a part-time Editorial Intern to provide administrative support to the Phaidon Editorial team. This applicant must be based in the New York City region and available to come into the office 3 days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday).

The successful candidate will be highly organized, self-motivated to meet deadlines, and able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic publishing environment. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable experience and insight into the illustrated book-making process.

The position will last as a 9-week long program, with flexibility on the start/end date. Pay is $17/hour for 2.5 days/week for a total of 17 hours/week. Previous book publishing experience is not required.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide general support to Phaidon editors across a variety of projects
  • Assist with research projects and fact-checking
  • Review and report on proposals sent to the Phaidon submissions inbox
  • Handle book mailings from the New York office
  • Research comparative titles and sales figures
  • Help with proofreading and checking proofreader corrections
  • Assist with image file management and processing
  • Update and maintain our arts contact database
  • Provide research assistance to Phaidon editors on the development of new books

Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
  • Must be able to prioritize, multitask, and manage time effectively
  • An ability to work in a fast-paced environment under deadlines
  • Strong interest in book-making at a leading art publisher
  • Ability to work from Phaidon’s offices in the Financial District
