What the job involves:
This Intern role will support Retail Leasing activities by assisting and completing special projects as assigned to support quality decision making by clients and the Leasing team. This Retail Leasing Intern role has a particular focus on high profile retail projects across the country in the following asset classes: in-town, mixed use, new and redevelopments. The ideal candidate will have interest and knowledge of emerging restaurant and retail brands both locally and nationally. Candidates shall also be expected to execute the below job functions with a high level of quality and accuracy.
As an Intern in Retail Leasing at JLL, you will:
- Conduct comprehensive market research by gathering, analyzing, and synthesizing economic indicators, demographic trends, and real estate market data to contribute to client deliverables and strategic decision-making processes.
- Develop and maintain organized databases of historical client interactions and activities, ensuring accurate record-keeping and enabling effective relationship management.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for tracking project progress, managing deadlines, and generating detailed reports on key performance indicators for internal teams and clients.
- Collaborate with senior team members to prepare high-quality client deliverables and presentations, including market analyses, property portfolios, and leasing strategies that drive impactful results for clients.
- Shadow experienced brokers during transaction negotiations, property evaluations, and documentation processes, gaining hands-on exposure to the intricacies of retail leasing deals.
- Conduct targeted canvassing activities to identify potential tenants, expand the client base, and uncover new business opportunities in assigned market areas.
- Assist in developing merchandising strategies for retail properties, including tenant mix recommendations and space planning to optimize property performance and shopper experience.
- Perform in-depth research on market trends, competitor activities, and industry benchmarks to support data-driven decision-making and strategic planning.
- Utilize and maintain the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, ensuring data accuracy, updating client profiles, and leveraging the tool for effective lead management and business development.
- Support marketing initiatives by contributing to the creation of property brochures, digital marketing materials, and social media content to promote listings and attract potential tenants.
- Coordinate and participate in property tours, showcasing retail spaces to prospective tenants and assisting in the preparation of tour materials and follow-up communications.
- Attend and actively engage in meetings with retailers, restaurateurs, and internal teams, taking detailed notes and contributing insights to discussions on leasing opportunities and market dynamics.

Education, Skills, and Experience
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
- Computer proficiency (MS Office: Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Self-starter, capable of maintaining a high energy level and being a team player
- Interest in a career path to become a Commissioned Broker
- Experience using CRM programs is a plus
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Analyze qualitative and quantitative information
- Strong attention to detail
- Hands-on team player who has a strong execution orientation
- Proven ability to participate in and influence cross-functional teams
- Strong project management skills to prioritize high impact activities
- Ability to work well under pressure and to meet tight deadlines
