Description:
Heart & Sol Publishing seeks a motivated Marketing & Communications Intern to lead our visibility, outreach, and audience engagement strategy. This role focuses on planning and executing campaigns that connect our mission with schools, libraries, and digital audiences. You’ll craft messaging, coordinate collaborations, and help shape the overall communication strategy behind each book and initiative.

Responsibilities:

Develop and manage marketing calendars and campaign timelines

Write newsletters, press releases, and outreach emails for schools, media, and partners

Research bulk order opportunities and institutional collaborations

Track analytics and audience engagement data

Coordinate with the Content Creator to ensure consistent brand messaging across platforms

Skills & Minimum Requirements:

Excellent writing and communication skills

Strategic thinking and comfort managing multiple campaigns

Familiarity with Google Workspace, Mailchimp, or social media scheduling tools

Organized, detail-oriented, proactive collaborator

Minimum: Junior standing or graduate student in Marketing, Communications, English, or related fields

Time Commitment: 10–12 hours per week

Schedule: Flexible (remote, with weekly virtual check-ins)

Duration: 10–12 weeks

Compensation: Unpaid / For Academic Credit

Supervision: Direct mentorship and weekly supervision meetings with founder Shaina Simmons, MFA (CalArts & Prescott College)
