POSITION: Theater General Manager
The Theater General Manager(GM) works to implement and administrate theater programming and operations. The GM reports to the Theater Director and will support contract administration, company management, budgeting and financial tracking, scheduling and planning, coordinating seasonal staff and volunteers for the theater, house management, managing theater rentals, and collaborating with front of house operations and audience services.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- In collaboration with Theater Director create contracts for visiting artists & companies, production personnel;
- Contract administration for all performing arts programs;
- Code and submit invoices & interface with the Finance Department; track expenses for payments; Theater Director reviews and approves all of the above.
- Maintain up-to-date schedules for theater staff and for planning future seasons.
- Maintain communications on scheduling/programs with the Director of Operations, Marketing Department, House Manager, Company Manager, Director of Facilities and Security, and technical crew.
- Interface with unions as needed for individual engagements (Actor’s Equity Association, SSDC, etc.) and support Theater Director in union negotiations.
- In Coordination with the Production Manager/Technical Director, contact companies to advance all upcoming shows and rentals.
- Advance all hospitality needs/rider requests of both actors and crew.
- Coordinate and plan performing arts-related receptions.
- Gather promotional assets for artists and companies, including bios, photos, video links, etc., and liaise with the Marketing, Philanthropy, and Program Teams regarding this information.
- Coordinate/book all housing and transportation for visiting artists.
- In coordination with Theater Director, recruit and oversee non-technical seasonal staff for the theater.
- Generate contact sheets and miscellaneous data reports as needed.
- In concert with Theater Director, coordinate settlements and closeouts for shows with co-producers or box office shares/splits.
- Develop and print programs/playbills for individual theater performances.
- Sell and manage all theater rentals, including coordinating with the Technical Director.
- Act as House Manager for select programs and supervise seasonal house management staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, and/or EXPERIENCE:
Must be a team player with strong communication skills and attention to detail. Excellent people management ability. Able to think through complex requests and use logic and reason to develop and propose solutions; detail-oriented with strong follow-through skills; resourceful and self-directed to manage and complete multiple tasks on varying projects with tight deadlines; solid problem-solving skills; tact and diplomacy; approachable; work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment; and be flexible and adaptable to changing work assignments and priorities.
Proficient in technology and technology-based communications, as well as full proficiency in computer use: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, is required.
Some light lifting may occasionally be required. Must have a reliable source of transportation.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Guild Hall Theater General Manager is anAt-Will, full-time, year-round exempt employee. The weekly schedule will include evening and weekend hours; the schedule will vary depending on season, special events, productions and theater schedule.

Pay: $70,000.00 – $75,000.00 per year
