Electric Power Systems, Inc. (EPS) is a specialized engineering firm with deep expertise in power system operations, design, and consulting. We serve a diverse range of clients—from independent power producers (IPPs) and utilities to industrial operations—offering innovative and practical solutions in substation design and power system studies.
We’re looking for a motivated Substation Design Engineer to join our team in either Palmer, AK, Juneau, AK, or Olympia, WA. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a collaborative environment on critical energy infrastructure projects across North America and the Pacific.

Responsibilities

You’ll be responsible for substation electrical design, planning, and analysis—supporting both new construction and upgrades. Your work will include:
• Designing and reviewing substation layouts, plan and profiles, one-lines, three-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, grounding layouts, and protective device drawings
• Performing engineering studies: short-circuit, grounding, voltage drop, and equipment rating
• Developing technical specifications for procurement and construction
• Coordinating with clients, vendors, and internal teams to manage design deliverables
• Conducting field inspections and supporting troubleshooting efforts
• Tracking project status, responding to client feedback, and ensuring design accuracy

Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE), ABET Accredited
• 7+ years of experience in substation design or related electrical engineering
• Familiarity with applicable codes (e.g., IEEE, NESC, NEC)
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• PE license is a plus (or willingness to obtain)
